Anima - The Antilope

It's been a while since I made a post here and this artwork will be the last of the first part of the Anima series, but that doesn't mean I won't be back to it, just that I feel it is enough for now..
At the moment I am at the beginning of a new project that will probably take quite some time to be completed but it is a step up and something I had in my mind for some years now.. Not sure when it will be the next time I post something here but I am excited and as soon as I have something concrete and finalized I will for sure share my progress here.. For now here is the sixth artwork of the Anima series..

Anima - The Owl

Well this time the choice was not so unique for sure, but you can't argue that the Owl is an intriguing animal and the fact it represents wisdom made it all the more appropriate for the 5th artwork in the anima series.. Brown makes this artwork seem a bit more realistic colour-wise than the previous endeavours but it still retains their fantastical theme in my opinion..

Anima - The Lynx

This time I wanted to try my hand on a more rare animal, so I chose the Lynx.. It is a very interesting animal for sure but the reason for me to make an artwork of it was its unique appearance which while resembling a big cat it has some very distinctive characteristics and I always get a "mystical" feeling from it..

Anima - The Elephant

So here is the 3rd artwork of the anima series.. Elephants.. If you had asked me some time ago if I would ever draw this animal the answer you would receive would be a "hell no".. Due to certain circumstances in my life it happened that this was the next animal I had to choose for this artwork.. No matter what will happen this was a challenge and forced me to exit my comfort zone trying once again a new thing.. The result is nice in my opinion and perhaps one of the highlights of these series..

Anima - The Wolf

This is the second artwork in my "Anima" series.. This time I went for a more cold theme and choosing one of my favourite animals which is the Wolf. I was especially pleased with his fair and the mystical vibes and in the end I couldn't help myself and added a castle on a cliff..

Anima - The Crow

This artwork is the first of a new series of artworks I intend to create.. In the spirit of trying new things I decided to draw animals.. I know by itself is not a very original idea, but I wanted to try my hand and practise with watercolours even more.. As I am a lover of fantasy I came up with the idea to make the animals as colourful souls.. spirits if you like.. I always loved the concept of using few colours for an artwork and try to make it like a theme of sorts.. So without further ado here is the first..

Starfire

In this artwork I wanted to create a female portrait with warm yellow tones used.. I think it is a step up from my previous watercolour efforts in terms of a portrait as it feels abit more like an artwork made with this medium and had lots of fun creating it. Now this girl is like a manifastation of the power of the sun in my mind.. It gives me a feeling of bright possitive strength and a warm feeling..

Yin or Yang

There is no elaborate plan/concept for this one.. just me playing a bit with the Yin Yang symbol. I plan to revisit it again as it is one of my favourite symbols but for now here are a few brush strokes for it in a very simple way..

Starborn

The concept of this artwork was to have the skin of a beautiful girl break and something to appear from inside.. After some brainstorming I decided in the end to instead have something dark or creepy appear inside to have something colourful.. So there is a kind of purple universe hiding inside of her and in contrast with what many other artists have done we see that this girl hides something beautiful inside her...

Usher

This artwork was again inspired from another short story written by Edgar Allan Poe named "The House of Usher". I really loved the atmosphere of the story and all the images I got in my mind regarding the old Manor where everything happens. I wanted for the Manor and the Blood Red Moon to be prominent and opted for a white background where the black trees would look nice in contrast. I believe that I at least got the bloody/creepy vibe in a nice way and while doing this with watercolours proved a bit of a challenge for meI must say I end up having lots of fun making this artwork..
